American Memory Fellows

Upper School Librarian Nancy Fitch and Upper School English and History Department Chair Charlie Flanagan were accepted into the 2000 American Memory Fellows Program of the Library of Congress. As Fellows working with the National Digital Library Program, a division of the Library that provides remote electronic access to important documents that reflect the collective American memory, its history and culture, the Key teachers were charged with creating an interactive lesson plan.

Using online resources of the American Memory Collection in an exploration of American society and culture at the time of the Centennial of 1876, the team of Fitch and Flanagan produced America at the Centennial. This collection of primary source documents was subsequently incorporated into the eleventh grade American Civilization curriculum at Key School and is now posted on The Learning Page of The Library of Congress American Memory Collection.
