Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Visits Key

As part of the Orfeo Alliance, a partnership between The Key School and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (ASO), composer and pianist Gabriela Lena Frank spent a week at Key in September as the Orfeo Artist-in-Residence. Ms. Frank worked with all fifth grade students, discussing the elements of music and the process of composing. Sharing her personal experience as a hearing-impaired musician, she engaged the students in conversations about what it means to “feel” the music.

Orfeo Alliance Artist-in-Residence: Rob Levit

Renowned musician and community leader Rob Levit spent a week in November as Key’s Orfeo Alliance Artist-in-Residence. In partnership with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Levit presented an array of arts activities that addressed the concept of recycling with students in Key’s fifth and sixth grades. Using Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Op. 56a and 56b, Mr. Levit shared with students how composers recycle musical material of the past to create new and innovative compositions.

The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Invites All Key Families to an Open Dress Rehearsal

On September 30, 2010, as part of the Orfeo Alliance, all members of the Key community were invited to a dress rehearsal of Celebrating Hispanic Heritage, the first concert of ASO's 2010-2011 season.

Orfeo Alliance 2009 - Maestro Novo Conducts Key’s String Ensemble

Maestro José-Luis Novo, conductor of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and this year’s Orfeo Alliance Artist-in-Residence, conducted the String Ensemble during A Musical Evening, the annual spring performance of the Upper School’s Chamber Choir, Dance, and Chorus.
