  • Information about Eighth Grade Algebra

    Posted May 23, 2013

Now that we are approaching the end of the school year, we wanted to provide some additional information about the transition from seventh grade Pre-Algebra to eighth grade Algebra. Our Math program aims to provide experiences in which each student feels challenged and successful. Therefore, we have developed two courses―Basic Algebra and Algebra I―to accommodate the needs of our students. Both courses cover algebraic skills and concepts, however, the curriculum differs in the scope of material covered, pacing of the material, and degree of abstraction used in presenting the material.

Our trip on the Appalachian Trail was a remarkable experience, and the group met all challenges in a very supportive and collaborative manner. We were thrilled with the outcome for all of them.

  • Key Robotics Visits BayWoods Senior Center

    Posted October 1, 2012

Members of Key School’s Middle School Robotics club took a trip to Baywoods Senior Center in early September to prepare for their 2012 FIRST® LEGO® League challenge. This year’s multi-school competition, the Senior Solutions Challenge, requires teams to research aging and examine how a healthy and productive lifestyle can be maintained. The outing proved to be an excellent learning experience for Key students, who were able to talk with senior citizens in order to further understand their needs. With the information acquired from their trip to BayWoods, Robotics Club members felt better equipped to take on the Senior Solutions Challenge, where they are tasked with isolating a single need and developing a solution that enables senior citizens to enhance their mobility, remain connected to their communities, or provide a means to stay healthy and fit. Members of the Robotics Club are now eagerly cultivating their ideas, which they will continue to develop and ultimately present at Baywoods in mid-November to gather feedback and determine which ideas resonate most with the residents.
