This week gives us a few days to read, write, draw, and finish up the work of this year. This morning we visit first grade and think ahead to the fun coming next year. We know that you will continue some of this work during the summer with the children as your family schedule permits. It has been a lovely year. Your support of your children and of our program made this year special. Thank you, thank you for all your support! We will miss your children and the magic that was this Kindergarten year. Happy Summer!

The children are finishing their study of the alphabet. Their reading and writing skills have grown so much! Over the summer we strongly encourage you to provide many opportunities for your child to read and write. This practice will help your child retain what he or she has learned in Kindergarten, and will ease the transition to first grade in the fall.

We are all looking forward to the Art Shows on Friday night. It is always good to take a breath and look at the work our children do, both in the Pre-School and as they move through Key School. If you are able to be here on Friday evening, there are pictures scattered all through the Pre-School building that I know you will enjoy seeing. It is interesting to see the work of your own child, the work of classmates, and the work of children from the three and four year old programs.

We will study the characteristics, calls, types of nests, colors of eggs, etc. The children will make a bird poster using their invented spelling to write a fact about the bird they have chosen.
