If you are an enthusiastic, energetic 14 or 15-year-old who enjoys working with younger children, and you want to be a camp counselor, you can apply to be a part of our CIT program at Key this summer! This program is a structured learning experience, designed to teach 14 and 15-year-olds the skills they need to become summer camp counselors. We will teach you about safety, leadership and responsibility. Each day will be filled with a wide variety of activities including team building, learning how to be a good role model to younger campers, problem solving, role playing, and discussion groups. You will spend part of each day assisting a Head Counselor/Assistant Counselor team with their group of campers. You will also become CPR and First Aid certified during the week. The second week, CIT’s will be assigned to one or two specific camp groups and will work alongside a head and an assistant counselor to gain more hands on experience and to have to opportunity to become more familiar with every aspect of a camper's day. This second week will give the camp directors a great opportunity to see what the CIT’s have learned and to observe them actually practicing these new skills.

Upon successful completion of the two week training, CIT’s will be eligible to work the remaining weeks of camp as a CIT. They will receive a weekly stipend for this work.
Space is limited. You must apply to be in this program and will be required to take part in a group interview. Contact the camp office for an application packet.
