Traditional Camp - Let's Get Messy


Morning Session or Full Day
Come and spend a messy week with us pouring, mixing, squishing, slopping, and creating. Summer is the best time for making mud pies, splashing with soapy water, and painting master pieces. Let’s get our hands into some fun and see what we can create. Even campers who are keen on staying clean will enjoy this session of mess. Let your imagination go wild with mud, clay, paint, bubbles, shaving cream, and more. All campers participate in daily swim lessons each morning at the Hillsmere Pool. We are going to whip up our imaginations and really enjoy making a mess!

Morning Session or Full Day
Each week of camp is filled with a wide range of activities: swimming, sports, outdoor games, and arts and crafts. The theme of this camp is good old-fashioned summer camp fun. The camp offers a fun, well-rounded summer camp experience offering campers a little bit of everything from water balloon races to tug-o-war. Campers are placed in coed groups of 1st to 3rd graders and will enjoy new friendships while participating in an ever-changing variety of activities. All campers participate in daily swim lessons each morning at the Hillsmere Pool.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear turn around. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear come on down! Come create a bear of your own. This week each camper will get to make their very own teddy bear and accessories to go with it. Spend time with your bear doing crafts, playing games and cooking treats for your Teddy Bear Picnic on the last day of camp.

Christmas in July

It’s July. It’s hot and you’re sweaty. You dream of cold, snowy nights. Join us in this camp to put aside the heat and spend the whole week celebrating Christmas. Campers will learn about the Christmas traditions and foods and songs from around the world. We will make wrapping paper, bows, cards, and ornaments. We will create and taste seasonal treats. We will even get an early start on gift-making! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way…

Slime, Gel and Goop

Campers will conduct gooey experiments, make slimy concoctions, find liquids that crumble, and crumbs that ooze. All these squishy, gushy scientific concoctions will be created by you. Some will stretch, some will transform, and some will bounce! If you like goop, putty, dough, gak, and slime, this is the camp for you. Your hands WILL get dirty in this fun camp. Get ready to ooze your way into some summer fun! Lab book of recipes and samples will come home.

More Mt. Jibbaroo Adventures

Even if you joined us for Mt. Jibbaroo Adventures during Week 1, you’ll enjoy this session as well. We will discover even more secrets and treasures in the land of Mt. Jibbaroo as junior explorers with our "jiballs" at our sides. Each camper will get one "jiball" to keep and to help them along the way. If you came to the other session, we will be sure you get a different "jiball" this time to help expand your collection!

Travel the World through Literature, Music, Art, and Culinary Delights

Campers will be exposed to a different culture each day. They will learn elementary language concepts as they travel to Asia, Europe, Africa, and South and Central America. We will focus on Indonesia, Italy, Uganda, Mexico, and Chile. Stories and poems will be shared, music played and cultural instruments experienced. There will be art projects to take home and snacks typical of each country to taste. Children will communicate directly with boys and girls in Uganda and share their art work.

All Sewn Up - Level I

Sewing is a great skill to know. Over the week, learn to piece together a variety of fabrics to make a stylish patchwork bag. Campers will learn sewing basics, such as threading a needle and a sewing machine, decorative stitching, cutting, marking, and pinning fabric. Leave the class with a fabulous new accessory and skills to help you make tons of future projects. All fabrics and notions will be supplied.

Scrapbooking Fun

Would you like to learn how to transform your boring photo album or scrapbook into something you can keep for a lifetime? This class will teach you how to create a masterpiece with a few photos and a little creativity. Bring your photos, newspaper clippings, concert ticket stubs, programs, stickers, or any other records of memorable experiences to this fun-filled week. We will be learning techniques and creative ideas to create a charming and imaginative book that will help you record some special moments from your life.

Rock 'n' Roll Jr.


Two Weeks, July 15-26

Have you ever wanted to be a member of a rock band? Learn what it takes to be a rock musician, how your particular instrument fits in the scheme of rock, and how to run sound equipment. In this camp you will discover how to get the most “rock” out of yourself. Spend two weeks this summer rehearsing and exploring new instrumental and vocal techniques while preparing to perform in a Friday evening rock concert as the opening act for the older Rock ‘n’ Roll campers. All campers need to have at least one year of experience with their instrument. The emphasis will be on guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists, and vocalists, but all instruments are welcome. Written arrangements will be composed to best utilize each player’s skills and talents. Get ready to rock!

Acting the Song

Young actors will be introduced to the world of musical theater in this camp. They will create an ensemble of actors working together to explore acting, singing and dancing! This program combines movement, dance, song, visual arts, and drama as students develop and perform songs from classic and contemporary musicals!

Daytrippers

If you love field trips, excitement and exploring new places, this is the camp for you! Trips will include a day at Six Flags Amusement Park, a day of roller skating and laser tag, a day at Chesapeake Water Park, and some time suspended fifty feet above the ground while we rock climb at Earth Treks. Dodgeball

Calling all dodgeball fanatics. Kids will have a blast running, ducking, throwing, and dodging around the court. Many variations of the game will be taught throughout the week. Good sportsmanship will be emphasized at all times. Excitement will build daily, culminating in a tournament on Friday.

Things Every Boy Should Know

Ever wonder how to make and use a slingshot? Do you know how to tie a tie? Can you make a campfire or fix a flat tire on a bike? Do you know the proper way to shake hands? Have you ever popped a wheelie? Do you think you could survive in the woods? If you want to learn about all these things and more, then this is the camp for you! Learn all the basic skills every young man should have and every boy wants to know. From etiquette to cleanliness to manliness, this camp will give you all the tools you need for the present and the future.
