Key Wins "It’s Academic" and Earns a Spot in the Playoffs!
Key’s Upper School team of three won “It’s Academic” on Saturday, March 6 against worthy competitors Mount Hebron and Sparrow's Point! Congratulations go out to Scott O'Connor ‘22 (captain), Jilly Proshan ’21 and Henry Robbins ‘22. The quiz show is in its 60th season and is designed to bring the kind of attention often reserved for student athletes to the arena of academic achievement. Questions run the gamut from art history to algebra to chemistry.
Their coach, Key teacher Brian Boyd praised the team’s initiative by saying, “What is most amazing is that this team is completely student-run. They had the idea of creating a team and they did all the work to prepare on their own. It is remarkable to see what they have been able to accomplish!” He went on to speak in glowing terms about Jilly, Henry and Scott, noting that while most schools’ teams have their individual specialists in math or history, these three students are each so well-rounded that they actually work as a unit, helping each other with the answer no matter what the topic is.
Saturday’s win qualified Key’s team for a spot in the “It’s Academic” playoffs which will begin airing in May. So stay tuned!
