Sixth Graders Visit Maryland State House

As part of their unit on the U.S. Constitution and a New Nation, Key sixth graders visited the Maryland State House to experience the “Founding Freedoms: The Essential American Documents” exhibit. For a morning, they had the rare opportunity to see in-person copies of some of the most important founding documents in American history, including the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence, as well as hear about the role Annapolis and Maryland played in the nation’s founding. As an added bonus, they got a visit from Senator Sarah Elfreth and even got to test out the chairs in the Senate Chamber of the Maryland General Assembly.
