Spark Block

Each grade in our Lower School has a once-a-week, 20 minute “Spark Block,” a morning exercise program, kick-starting the day with joy, laughter, learning, and fun!

Spark Block is in addition to their regularly scheduled Physical Education classes and is designed to promote a healthy relationship with active movement, support and grow students' gross motor skills, movement knowledge and body awareness, and emphasize social, collaborative and personal skills.

Students actively participate in age-appropriate collaborative games and activities that promote physical fitness, cardiovascular exercise and executive functioning. The activities require communication, participation and effort.

Students that engage in physical fitness at an early age in a supportive environment will enjoy and seek out physical activity, maintain physical fitness as they age and learn the appropriate social skills associated with teamwork, sportsmanship and cooperative behavior.
