Before School Care

To support families with early schedules, Key School offers free Before School Care for Key students in Kindergarten through Grade 8, weekdays beginning at 7:30 a.m. each school day in session.

Families who expressed interest in Before Care in their enrollment contract will receive access to the registration form via the Checklist in the Office of Admission Enrollment Portal. As space is limited, early registration is recommended. If you wish to change your initial request or sign up for 2026-2027, contact Khristna Paysour. Space is not guaranteed.

Before School Care is overseen by Key’s First School Division Head and staffed by Key faculty members.
Licensing parameters limit the ages served to Kindergarten through Grade 4.
Maximum enrollment is limited to 30; registration is required.
Before School Care is located in the Farmhouse.
Parents must escort children into the building and sign them in with a staff member. For the children’s safety, drop-off is not permitted.
Children participating in Before School Care must arrive between 7:30 - 7:45 a.m.
Due to allergy precautions, no food or drink can be consumed by the children during Before School Care.
Staff will escort children to their divisional offices at 8:00 a.m.
Students participating in Before School Care must have all forms up-to-date in the Health Office.
Before School Care is not available on days when Key School is operating on a delayed opening schedule.

After School Care

After School Care runs until 6:00 p.m. for students in the First, Lower, and Middle Schools.

Students must be registered to attend Key’s After School Program.
Key’s After School Program is licensed by the Maryland Department of Education, Office of Child Care. Our staff brings a wide range of experience and are committed to creating an engaging environment that balances creative learning and play. All staff members are certified in basic first aid and CPR.
Students are grouped by grade level. First School students remain in the First School building, while Lower School students gather in the Manse or Farmhouse, depending on the season. Middle School students meet in the Ford K. Brown Library in the Barn.
Each afternoon, students enjoy a nutritious, nut-free snack served family-style.
A structured homework period provides Lower and Middle School students with a quiet space to focus on their work. Students without homework may use this time to read or draw and are encouraged to bring a book each day.

After School Enrichment Program Highlights

Learning and exploration don’t end when the school day does. Key’s After School Enrichment program offers students opportunities to pursue interests, discover new talents, and spend time with friends in a supportive and engaging environment. These offerings represent just a portion of the many opportunities available each term, giving students space to try something new, develop skills, and connect with peers in meaningful ways.
