The whole Key School community celebrated Building Belonging Week this month, part of which was The Great Zag Relay on World Kindness Day. This activity brought students from all divisions together to run the relay. It was a highlight of the week!

Five of our Zags earned awards at Princeton Model Congress. They were Owen Hurson '26 who won Best Delegate in Committee; Joey Vasto '27 who earned an Honorable Mention is Full Session; Wyatt Cristrup '26, Jack Moran '26 and Kris Granger '26 who brought home and Honorable Mention in Committee.

First School faculty and staff help the Key-Wee class carry the snake they helped make for this year's Lunar New Year parade.

After studying Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato, our 4th graders took on the roles of attorneys, jurors, witnesses, and more in a mock trial to determine Socrates’ guilt in corrupting the youth of ancient Greece.

Our Girls' Varsity Swim team brought home the championship this year following a stellar season!

The Middle School treated students and parents to a Winter Concert, showing off their musical talent.

Seven of our talented students recently competed at the Annapolis Chapter Mathcounts Competition, where they crushed it!

In preparation for their Trial of Socrates, the 4th grade class visited Annapolis District Court Judge Danielle M. Mosley, a Key alum, to learn about her path to the bench and observe courtroom proceedings.


The Pre-K class made handprints with wishes for the world to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Our Advanced Biology students visited Towson University’s lab, where they explored the genetics of sickle cell anemia. They analyzed how gene mutations affect hemoglobin, mapped genotypes, and visualized blood cell changes.

The Lower School explored the History of Hip Hop. Each day, learned something new about hip-hop culture, including rap, graffiti, breakdancing, and DJing. They learned about many of Hip Hop’s pioneers and favorites. To round out their studies, they created this mural in art class.

One of our most beloved Key School traditions is Senior Buddies. These "meet-ups" happen a few times a year when the Seniors visit the First School classes and pair up for some serious play time.

Third grade learning about momentum

Not only do our students excel in academics and on-campus activities, many of our students also excel outside of school.

The Annual Middle School Pickleball Champions have been crowned!

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was a rousing success. Congrats to the whole cast and crew!

Key-Wee parent and author Kate Myers took a break from writing her latest novel to come show her child's class what goes into writing a book. Then the Key-Wees made their own masterpieces!

The Upper School's Winter Advisory Cup games culminated in a thrilling round of limbo!

Our second grade classes visited the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in D.C. this month to further explore space and space travel.

The Upper School held their annual John Starr Jr. Coffeehouse where students participated in an open mic night showcasing their talents.

Our first graders hopped on a bus and headed to Baltimore to visit the National Aquarium this month.

Key Baseball is back!

One of our parents graciously volunteered his time to come talk to fourth graders about Ramadan and its importance to his family and many others celebrating around the world!

Girls' Varsity Lacrosse gets geared up for the brand new season.

Junior Caleb Smith was named the second-place national winner in the VFW’s 2024-2025 Voice of Democracy youth audio-essay competition! His powerful auto-essay earned him the Charles Kuralt Memorial Scholarship, and he was honored at the Parade of Winners ceremony in Washington, D.C.

As part of their Global Studies class, students took on identities representing different countries from the region. They compiled research-based dossiers, created hand-rendered artifacts, and designed visual displays in the Innovation Lab. To bring their studies to life, they also shared traditional foods and presented their work to families and others in the Key Community.

During Women's History Month, influential female figures in the lives of our Key-Wee students came into the classroom to share stories and activities with them. Here, Key Science Teacher Chelsea Fajen shows the Key-Wee class how to pick up litter with a claw.
