Dear Key School Community,
The economic uncertainty resulting from the coronavirus pandemic is affecting us all in many ways. At some point, however, we will return to something approaching normal; perhaps a new normal. Unfortunately, we cannot be certain of what, and when that will be.
In an effort to help our families manage through this period of uncertainty, the Board of Trustees is working with the administration to address financial concerns relating to the cost of a Key School education. This is a complex task, given the macro-economic uncertainty, difficulty in scenario planning, differing experiences across divisions, anticipated additional costs, etc.
This is also a very fluid circumstance, but at this point we are committed to the following for the 2020-2021 school year:
- working with families to restructure payment plans if needed
- accepting applications for new and increased financial aid
- extending the June 1 tuition binding date to July 1
- considering options for tuition restructuring if there are material changes in the Key School experience
The Key School experience has always been a unique differentiator for our school. This continues to be the case, as evidenced by the rapid and high quality transition to distance learning with little or no warning. The faculty and staff continue to work hard to evolve and improve the distance learning experience, anticipating a scenario next year that would continue this model to varying degrees.
All other aspects of the Key experience are under evaluation to optimize and adapt to the situation in an effort to provide the most unique and valuable experience possible. These include adjustments to professional development, technology infrastructure, facilities maintenance, schedules, learning support, medical support, etc.
Thanks to all of our loyal families, faculty, staff, alumni, and the entire community for your continuing support of our school during these challenging times. We look forward to working together to get back to (new) normal!
Regards,
