Chess is a fun game that teaches responsibility, improves discipline and sharpens thinking skills. It also builds confidence and teaches children to think before they act. Research shows the thinking skills children develop in chess carry over to other areas in their lives.

Each week Mr. Acholonu will email the players a link to GoToMeeting. He will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to dramatically improve their chess games. Lessons will be geared towards teaching students advanced strategies and tactics. Each week there will be “work” assigned to complete outside of the regular chess club sessions.

While this chess club is meant for players with experience, Mr. Acholonu will offer extra training for newer players to gain more experience if they haven't played before. Plus, with the ChessKid.com membership, players will have access to additional lessons and game opportunities to work on during the week. This club is the perfect opportunity for experienced players with a strong desire to improve their skills to have the chance to play with other serious, like-minded students.
