CIT is for enthusiastic, energetic 14 and 15-year-olds who enjoy working with children and want to develop the skills needed to become successful camp counselors. This 2-week program is a structured learning experience that focuses on safety, leadership, and responsibility. During the first week, discussion-based and role-playing activities will emphasize team-building, problem-solving, and becoming good role models. Part of each day will be spent observing and assisting a counselor team with their group of campers. CPR/First Aid certification training will also be provided. The second week of the CIT program will be assigned based on the participant's availability between the weeks of July 10 and July 31. During this week, CIT’s are placed in a specific camp by Camp Directors where they will gain more hands-on experience and continue to develop skills learned in the first week. In addition, CIT’s may assist with lunch supervision in our cafeteria and help one afternoon in our After Care Program so they can experience other aspects of an assistant counselor’s job duties.
Due to limited space and in the spirit of fairness, a lottery will be conducted on March 1 to determine the 2023 participants in the CIT program. To enter the lottery, interested applicants should register online before 10am on March 1. The first twelve names selected through the lottery will be offered spots. Those not offered a spot will be waitlisted based on the order the names were drawn. All applicants will be notified of the results via email once the lottery is complete. NEW for 2023! As the great Picasso once said, “Everything you can imagine is real,” and the Handwork Studio is here to prove it! In this program, campers imagine and design the house of their dreams. How about slides instead of stairs? How about a full blown rainbow interior? Sure, why not! In this model making program, anything is possible. The week starts as campers flex their pencils and imagination muscles to draw out blueprints. Campers will design interiors, understand how to work in-scale, and learn three-dimensional building techniques. Then, they’ll use a model making kit to bring their dream house to life. Next thing you know, they’ll want to build a shrink ray so they can go live in the house of their dreams! Don’t worry, we won’t teach them how to build one of those, yet…

Drone search and rescue is a necessity for first responders around the globe, adding a new layer of creative solutions to save lives and increase safety. Firefighting and prevention, reforestation, search and rescue, utility inspections, and medical transfers currently all rely on innovative drone solutions to reduce danger and increase efficiency. This innovative drone camp provides campers with the opportunity to participate in and learn from simulated missions during this action-packed, educational, and real-world applicable program. Campers will learn to free fly and code drones autonomously during this camp week. They also will rely on other members of their rescue team (flight squad) to collect vital data in specific “rescue areas” to locate “victims” and safely rescue them. Our instructors use age-appropriate and cutting-edge technology methods available for creating plans, missions, and maps. Participants will also learn invaluable lessons on how to simply, quickly, and accurately make informed and targeted suggestions for real-world positive solutions.

They’ll be arborists as they learn about different kinds of trees and even plant a pine tree. Next they’ll become entomologists as they do activities and experiments related to spiders, butterflies, and other insects. They’ll discover that although sometimes insects may appear scary or frightening, they actually aren’t and can even help us! Campers will explore the organisms and habitats of different ecosystems and learn ways to take care of the planet we live on. They’ll become experts on the “three Rs'' - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. What better place to explore than nature that is right outside our door? Campers will not only learn about this amazing planet we live on but learn how we can help keep it beautiful and healthy! Nut-free foods may be used in the experiments/projects in this camp. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the camp office.

NEW for 2023! Kid cooks, bakers and chefs have joined the ranks of elimination style cooking contests and here at Tiny Chefs we are getting in on the action! In this exciting session, campers will be separated into rotating teams and each team will create recipes that are judged by the instructors in a blind taste test with preset criteria. Each day the teams will create 3 items; 2 recipes will be a head-to-head competition making the same item. The 3rd item will be recipes that are similar but have slightly different ingredients—Farmers Market Pasta Salad vs Pesto Pasta Salad with Summer Veggies, for example. May the best team win! All cooking-themed camps utilize nut-free ingredients. Please understand that these camps incorporate a variety of food, and we cannot accommodate other restrictive food issues or allergies. Please contact us before you register to discuss any concerns.

Sir Isaac Newton never had this much fun! This camp is perfect for campers who want to know how and why things work. Designing and building different projects, campers will be immersed into our toy maker’s workshop as they construct and take home several different toy projects that teach an important physical property. They’ll experiment with a Pocket Rocket, take aim with a Marshmallow Launcher, construct a sponge ball slingshot, and learn about electricity and circuits with a Snap Circuit Board, which campers will get to bring home! They’ll become engineers as they teach family and friends how electricity works and demonstrate oodles or exciting builds that light up and make noise. Nut-free foods may be used in the experiments/projects in this camp. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the camp office. Any registered camper that does not meet the minimum age requirement will be contacted to make a different selection.

Join us for a marine and environmental education-based learning experience! This camp provides a platform that enables youths to gain both an appreciation for and an understanding of their local marine environments. Our hands-on, feet-wet methodology introduces campers to real-life scientific experiments, methods, and practices. The week consists of a mixture of dynamic activities that may include but not be limited to hands-on field sampling, interactive games, scientific demonstrations, experiments, and dissections. Specific activities include water quality sampling and testing, seining, sieving, plant and animal identification, and environmental awareness.
The outdoors becomes the classroom for this camp. The camp will start and end their day on the Key Campus, but a large part of the camp day will take place two blocks from campus at Key School’s beach field with visits to the Hillsmere beachfront. The camp is led by degreed scientists who are CPR and First Aid certified. While campers will not be getting into the water above the knee, they should wear a swimsuit or clothes that can get wet each day. Campers should also bring a towel and wear a shoe with a closed back that can get wet (a water shoe or old sneakers are great options).
