NEW for 2025! In Mad Food Scientist, campers get hands-on with the wild science behind their favorite foods. They’ll discover that every recipe is a mini-chemistry experiment, where a pinch of this and a dash of that can lead to amazing (or hilariously unexpected) results! From mixing baking soda and vinegar to exploring the art of measurement, campers will learn how tiny tweaks make a big difference in taste and texture. Campers will explore the hidden wonders of the kitchen: why dough rises, what makes cookies chewy or crunchy, and how flavors mix together. Each day brings new discoveries and culinary experiments, with campers whipping up snacks and treats they can’t wait to taste. Along the way, they’ll develop curiosity as they explore new flavors, perseverance through trial and error, and responsibility as they manage ingredients and tools. Is your camper ready for a week of adventure? In each Velocity session, whether they're seasoned pros or getting on wheels for the first time, campers work with counselors to develop their biking and skateboarding skills. They’ll even build their own custom skateboard to take home as a lasting memento of the week! Velocity campers will also step outside their comfort zones, make bold choices, and create friendships through resilience-building activities like slacklining, obstacle courses and collaborative team-building games. Each Velocity week features a special theme, and in this week’s “Catch the Cache”, X marks the spot for adventure! Campers explore geocaching, a worldwide treasure-hunting game that uses GPS devices—way cooler than the one in your car! Through collaboration, teams will follow coordinates to hidden caches, and even hide their own cache for friends to find. They’ll learn respect for the geocachers who have come before and preserve the integrity of the game for those who will come after. With each find, campers become part of a communal game that has the coordinates for fun! This camp will take place at Fusco Park, Key School’s athletic facility located just two miles away from the main campus. Transportation by bus from Key School to and from Fusco Park will be provided. Bikes, skateboards, and protective equipment (helmets, pads, etc.) are also provided.

Your camper will complete tons of great building projects with the Robotic Arm and T4 Transforming Solar Bot. This camp is for campers who enjoy putting things together and requires strong fine motor skills for the use of screwdrivers and similar tools. The OWI, Inc. Robotic Arm brings innovation and robotics into the hands of campers with this “build it yourself kit”. After building, campers will be able to command the gripper to open and close, move the wrist 120 degrees, extend the elbow 300 degrees, rotate the base 270 degrees, and have extensive vertical and horizontal reach, and lifting capacity of over 3 ounces. WOW! Some of the added features include a search light design on the gripper and a safety gear audible indicator is included on all five gear boxes to prevent any potential injury or gear breakage during operation. The OWI, Inc. 14-in-1 Solar Robot allows future engineers to build a robot and transform it to 14 different robot modes, with unique movements and designs, some designed for dry land and some for water! Not only will they be challenged by building and interacting with fourteen different robot designs, but campers will discover and learn first-hand the importance of solar power, an alternative renewable energy. This robot encompasses all aspects of STEM and is a perfect example of how the four different “subjects” are all interconnected.

Each Velocity week features a special theme, and this week’s “Camper vs. Wild” invites campers to unleash their creativity by designing and building shelters from natural materials. Collaborating with friends, they'll learn valuable survival skills like knot-tying, outdoor cooking, and problem-solving. It’s a hands-on adventure where campers gain a perseverance mindset as they face the challenges of the wild! This camp takes place at Fusco Park, Key School’s athletic facility located just two miles away from the main campus. Transportation by bus from Key School to and from Fusco Park will be provided. Bikes, skateboards, and protective equipment (helmets, pads, etc.) are also provided.

What do you call a piece of wood with nothing to do? Board! Well, no one will be bored in this program, where campers have a blast learning the practical and timeless craft of woodworking. Your child will use traditional hand tools to create a range of projects, from toolboxes to their own custom creations that are not only fun to make but also functional. Each week, they’ll experience the joy of building something with their own hands in a constructive and creative way. Along the way, campers develop responsibility as they work safely with tools, perseverance as they refine their skills, and collaboration when they share ideas and techniques with their peers. By the end of the week, they’ll have a new appreciation for craftsmanship and a collection of projects they can be proud of. Hey—have you heard the “under construction” joke? It’s not done yet. Because all that’s missing is you!
