Fusco Athletic Park History

The Key School finalized its purchase of the seventy acre parcel of land formerly known as the Annapolis Golf Club on August 13, 2013. By unanimous Board vote, the property was officially named The Key School Fusco Athletic Park, honoring the generous and long-time philanthropic support of current parents Kristin and Jack Fusco and the Fusco Family Foundation. Kristin and Jack are parents of Anthony ’09, Christopher ’10 and Mark '19.

In addition to their significant financial support of Key’s Endowment, Annual Fund and bricks and mortar endeavors over the past seventeen years, the Fusco's provided early pivotal commitment for the purchase of the Annapolis Roads property. Without their unprecedented gift, combined with those of 25 other visionary donors, Key would not have been able to realize the acquisition of this magnificent property.

Key School Fusco Athletic Park

Leading Key to this once in a lifetime juncture was parent and former Board of Trustees president Wes Jones, who tirelessly helped navigate this complex acquisition. His unwavering vision and his boundless energy to pursue this dream on behalf of Key have helped transform the face of our beloved school. Generous donors and he have forever changed the legacy of Key School.

The most recent site development plan for Fusco Athletic Park includes two athletic fields, eight tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a 1.7 mile nature trail, and attendant support structures including a maintenance facility. Approximately 44 acres will remain undisturbed. This plan represents an evolution in the design resulting from input received from Anne Arundel County’s zoning office, residents of Annapolis Roads, and Key’s Buildings and Grounds Committee. Having received approval of the preliminary site plan, Key is now moving forward with the County’s review of the final site plan as well as with the procurement of the necessary building and grading permits.

Enthusiasm grows as the School continues to envision the myriad benefits of this historic acquisition. It is abundantly evident that by supporting Key’s athletic, outdoor and environmental programs, the Fusco Athletic Park will serve Key students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade twelve for many generations to come.
