Operating since 1977, Summer at KEY is well-known in Annapolis and the surrounding region for providing children ages 3 1/2 through 12th grade an opportunity to discover new interests, make friends, be creative, and learn about the importance of play and laughter—all in a safe and supportive environment on Key School’s beautiful 15-acre campus located in Hillsmere Shores.

 

Positions Available:

Specialty Camp Head Counselors

Summer at KEY 2020 will run from June 15 through August 7.  We offer a variety of different programs, from Traditional Day Camps to over one hundred Specialty Camps, for children ranging in age from 3 ½ to those entering 12th grade.   

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and energetic individuals to lead our 2020 Specialty Camps.  These programs focus on special interests such as arts and crafts, sports, cooking, academics, team games, and water activities.  We welcome new program ideas if you have a hobby or special skill that could be developed into a camp.  Visit our website at www.keyschool.org/summer to view our offerings from 2019.

Specialty camps typically run for one week, either from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm or from 12:30 to 3:30 pm.  With the support of an Assistant Counselor, the Head Counselor will lead groups that usually range from 6 to 14 campers.  Candidates can apply to work for as little as one week or for all eight weeks of camp.  Scheduling is flexible with both half and full day options available.

All Summer at KEY Head Counselors are responsible for the campers’ daily physical and emotional safety and well-being.  Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and are required to have previous experience working with children in a school or other setting. Head Counselor

Summer at KEY 2020 will run from June 15 through August 7.  We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and energetic individuals to lead our 2020 Traditional Camps (ages 3 ½ - 1st grade) and Pathfinder Camps (2nd – 4th grades).  Visit our website at www.keyschool.org/summer for more information about these programs.

The Head Counselor, with the support of an Assistant Counselor, is responsible for leading groups of 10 to 16 campers in daily activities that may include arts and crafts, swimming, games, and sports.  The Head Counselor is responsible for the campers’ daily physical and emotional safety and well-being.  Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and are required to have previous experience working with children in a school or other setting.

Hours are Mondays 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Additional hours are available for those interested in working in the Extended Care Program.  There will be a mandatory Orientation for all new Summer at KEY employees on Sunday, June 7.  Click here for an application.

Assistant Counselor

Working alongside a Head Counselor, the Assistant Counselor will manage a group of campers and assist in daily activities that may include arts and crafts, swimming, music, games, sports, cooking, and science.  All Summer at KEY counselors are responsible for the campers’ daily physical and emotional safety and well-being.  Applicants must be at least 16 years old.  Previous experience working with children is a plus.

Hours are Mondays 8:30 a.m.to 3:45 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays 8:45 a.m.to 3:45 p.m. Additional hours are available for those interested in working in the Extended Care Program.
